Luxury Travel

The Nice Carnival first started in the middle ages. Today it spans over 2 weeks and features both traditional and flower parades. In 2018 the carnival will start on February 17th and end on March 3rd. There will be at least 11 official events. This year's carnival theme is sure to be out of this world.

King Of Space

2018's theme will have to do with space. Carnival goers will have the opportunity to see floats with decorations such as constellations and shooting stars. In total there will be11 parades that feature at least 17 floats and over a thousand dancers. The place Massena will be the where the parades start. They will then turn around at the Albert 1er gardens. Parade goers don't have to wait for hours to get a front row seat to see the action as there will be large screens to watch that's going on.

Flower Parades

A traditional event at Nice Carnival is a flower parade battle. Basically floats are elaborately decorated with flowers and each one tries to outdo the other with their designs. This event started back in 1876 and originally just involved the exchanging of flowers. It wasn¢??t until 2005 that the flower parades started to share the theme of the carnival parades. Around 80% of the flowers that are used in the parades are grown locally. Those who do happen to get a seat close to the parade may be the lucky recipient of some of the flowers that are thrown off of the floats and into the crowds.

Carnival's Parade Of Lights

Those that can't make it to the festivities during the day can enjoy the Parade of Lights. They typically occur on Tuesdays and Saturdays and features floats all lit up. There are also bands playing as well as a lot of entertainment.
